Why I Created This
A personal story from a founder about why finance systems are broken—and what I'm building to fix them.
The Problem I Lived
I've spent years implementing financial systems—SAP, NetSuite, Xero, QuickBooks, and more. Each time, the same question: why is this so complicated?
Enterprise systems take months to implement and cost tens of thousands annually. The "simpler" options like Xero and QuickBooks are just data repositories—they store your transactions but don't tell you what they mean. Most teams end up working around these systems, not with them.
Here's what really bothered me: most systems work backwards.
Teams would manage their numbers in Excel first, then upload clean data at month-end. No real-time visibility. No daily insights. Just backwards workflows that created confusion about which spreadsheet had the right numbers, and business decisions made on outdated information.
The real cost was time. Hours reformatting data instead of analyzing it, validating numbers manually, tracking down the right version of spreadsheets.
Genesis
I was part of the Antler residency program, surrounded by conversations about AI-native tools. But I kept thinking: the best technology is human-native with AI augmentation to help and empower, not replace.
There was something else driving this. Several startup fraud cases in Indonesia made headlines—companies hiding numbers from investors, manipulating data, destroying trust. It reinforced what I already believed: finance needs to be transparent. When everyone sees the same numbers in real-time—CEOs, finance teams, stakeholders—businesses make better decisions together.
When information is delayed or filtered, alignment suffers. Real-time visibility fixes that.
What I'm Building
MontPro is built to solve this: affordable pricing, real-time analysis, and access for everyone—not just finance teams.
The system analyzes data automatically, sends alerts when something's off, and answers questions in plain language. No Excel workarounds. No accounting degree required.
Business owners should be able to understand their numbers without needing a translator.
Where We Are Now
MontPro works. It handles AP/AR tracking, generates financial statements automatically, and delivers the core features you need to run a business. I'm testing and improving it daily.
Some features are still in development, but what's live today is solid—and costs a fraction of enterprise systems that take months to implement.
We're early, we're improving, and we're building with real user feedback.
My Hope
When someone uses MontPro, they should feel empowered.
Business owners should be able to discuss financials with their teams in real-time, not wait two weeks for reports. Finance shouldn't be gatekept behind complexity or jargon.
